About the Artist
I have sold many of my hand woven rugs and scarves through art galleries and shows in
many locations in Pennsylvania and have displayed woven pieces for The Women’s Conference at Bloomsburg University and Greenwood Friends School. I am a member of W.A.R.P. (Weave a Real Peace) and the local weaving guild, Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers, and I have taken an active part in the planning for Creative Strands Classes held at Bucknell University in 2004 and took craft and weaving classes at Bucknell in both 2003 and 04. I have given weaving classes to master’s students of Penn State from State College, Pennsylvania, and spinning and weaving presentations to children at the Children’s Museum in Bloomsburg, PA,. In the past two years I have participated in the artist studio tour as a fund raiser for the children’s museum.
Having worked many years for the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit with children and families with developmental needs, I have used art as a way to help break down barriers in learning.
As a cultural activist for fare trade I support the weaver’s of Guatemala by having fair trade sales of hand woven pieces at my home/studio, and am currently looking to support other cultures to bring fare wage price’s to their communities.
Weaving for me, as for many other peoples, make us a part of our cultural past.
Making creative and useful things we are apart of our future.
