About the Artist
Sam Dion is a graduate of the Philadelphia college of Art where he also taught classes in Pictorial Composition, Drawing and illustration. His career as an illustrator spans more than 40 years, doing free-lance work for nationally known book and magazine publishers, advertising agencies and pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Dion produced art for hospitals, industrial and business corporations, as well as fashion illustration and courtroom drawings while continuing to sketch and paint on his own.
Since moving to Bloomsburg, he has illustrated recruitment posters for the University, created art for the Chamber of Commerce, designed the original "First Night 2000" New Years Poster for the First Columbia Bank and has donated the proceeds of over 150 portraits sketched at the Renaissance jamboree to the Bloomsburg Rotary Club.
He is a member of the North Mountain Art League, the Artspace Cooperative gallery as well as the Philadelphia Woodmere gallery. His work has been exhibited at Woodmere, the Philadelphia Sketch Club, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the University of the Arts, Bloomsburg University, the Hazleton Art gallery, the Lewisburg Art gallery, the Harrisburg Art Museum and the Art Expo in Los Angeles.
